He made 41 tackles, including a career-high seven stops in the upset of No. 1 Louisiana State. He had interceptions against Arkansas and Tennessee and was second on the team in pass breakups with nine.
Thurmond reinjures knee; Jarmon has surgery
Sophomore linebacker Brandon Thurmond has reinjured the knee that was hurt last spring and will miss all of spring practice. Thurmond redshirted in 2006 and missed the entire 2007 season with the knee injury. He is expected to return when practice resumes in August.
Junior defensive end Jeremy Jarmon had arthroscopic knee surgery and will miss about two weeks of spring practice. Jarmon had a team-high nine sacks last fall.
Spring football calendar
UK begins spring practice on Wednesday. Practices are open to fans and are scheduled to be held at Nutter Training Facility. For practices at Nutter, fans should stand behind the ropes in the porch area. Fans may sit in the stands for practices at Commonwealth Stadium.
