Kentucky's Tamme picks up two more top SEC awards
University of Kentucky tight end Jacob Tamme had a day to remember yesterday.
The senior was named the Southeastern Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year by league coaches and made The Associated Press' All-SEC first team. It was Tamme's second straight year on the first team.
Also making first team for the Wildcats was senior linebacker Wesley Woodyard.
Other UK players honored were senior quarterback Andre Woodson, second team; senior wide receivers Keenan Burton and Steve Johnson, honorable mention; and defensive end Jeremy Jarmon and cornerback Trevard Lindley, both sophomores, honorable mention.
Florida quarterback Tim Tebow was Offensive Player of the Year, Louisiana State defensive tackle Glenn Dorsey was Defensive Player of the Year, Mississippi State's Sylvester Croom was Coach of the Year and Georgia running back Knowshon Moreno was Freshman of the Year.
Tim Tebow and Dorsey were among four unanimous picks to the All-SEC team, joined by Arkansas running back Darren McFadden and Tamme.
On Tuesday Tamme and Woodyard were named to the coaches' All-SEC first team.
Dorsey last night also won the Lombardi Award as the nation's top lineman or linebacker -- just two days after winning the Bronko Nagurski Award, given to the nation's top defensive player.
